Collapsing Decks

Collapsing Decks

Decks are rotting all across the country and putting homeowners at great risk of injury as they collapse.  StoneWood is a very inexpensive solution.

According to the mega-composite manufacturer, Trex, "decks are in advanced stages of rot in as early as 7 years from installation." The deck our company saved (shown above) had already collapsed by several inches on one end. There was almost nothing holding one whole side up except a little bit of rotten wood. One jump from a child and the whole corner of the deck could collapse. The deck is 10' high. Not to be an alarmist, but that could be catastrophic.

In order to do it right, this is an all day job for two men to replace a tall, rotten 6x6 post, remove the existing concrete footing and reinstall a new concrete footing with new PT post and coat the wood with Stonewood prior to installation. Cost therefore runs $1000 per post labor with our client paying 4 X material cost. Note: One part pays for materials. One part pays labor. One part is overhead. One part is profit. BTW, if one post shows this kind of decay, it is a safe bet that all posts are rotting as well. Do not wait to get this repair done. Putting it off will cost even more later. Call now.
